Autzen stripe-out
Oregon opens 2025 season with another Game 1 Autzen stripe-out.
Fans wear GREEN or YELLOW for the Aug. 31 Oregon-Idaho game, depending on seat location.
EVEN-numbered sections wear YELLOW
ODD-numbered sections wear GREEN
This creates a striped pattern throughout the stadium that shows up nicely on TV or in the background of photos — and your choice of Oregon fan gear can be part of that visual effect.
The champ is here!
It's game week, Oregon is defending Big Ten champion, and life is good for Ducks Nation!
The Game 1 forecast calls for sun and about 80 degrees at Autzen for kickoff.
You’ll sweat a little, but it’ll be that kind of sweat you smile through on a Saturday with Oregon Football, nice weather and the whole season ahead with expectations even higher in Head Coach Dan Lanning's fourth season of building what's now fully his program.
Keys to the game
After 2024's shaky start against visiting Idaho (W 24-14) and Boise State (W 37-34), this 2025 season-opener needs the style points of a convincing win on the scoreboard, the stat sheet, and the eyeball test.
Three keys for Oregon to walk away confident and convincing, not with more questions than answers:
➡️ Establish the run, own the air.
Montana State's 2024 squad won 15 straight games and came within a field goal of winning the FCS national championship. The Bobcats finished 15-1 with a 35-32 loss to North Dakota State for the FCS title.
That run included a 52-19 mid-December win over the Idaho squad that had given Oregon fits in Game 1.
Montana State can be dangerous if the Ducks allow that to happen. But Oregon's success starts with dominating possession time and controlling the line of scrimmage for 1,400-yard rusher and Doak Walker Award semifinalist Makhi Hughes and Ducks fan-favorite Noah Whittington pushing the rock behind returning starter "Pancho" Laloulu at Center.
If the Ducks are consistent in the run game from the start, a controlled passing attack from presumptive QB1 Dante Moore could be the factor that solidifies a lead for Oregon and ultimately stresses the Bobcats' defense for explosive plays in either phase of Oregon's offense.
➡️ Feed the stars in open space.
Much-hyped TE Kenyon Sadiq and freshman Receiver Dakorien Moore in the pass game. Hughes bringing a new twist to Will Stein’s run game. On paper, Montana State should be outgunned. But Idaho and Boise State designed the 2024 blueprint for how to sour all of Autzen's advantages, from raw talent on the field to the 12th-man in the stands.
If there could be only one lesson to learn from that opening stretch of 2024, it's that Oregon's stellar offensive skill players simply must thrive. Create advantage up front, create leverage, create space downfield, and spring Oregon's playmakers.
➡️ Turn Autzen into Thunderdome.
Montana State is no joke. That 15-1 run to last season's FCS title game shows that this team knows how to win. That common opponent, 2024 Idaho, really drives the point home:
Oregon 24, Idaho 14
Montana State 52, Idaho 19
The antidote to Montana State's ability to fight above its weight against Oregon is for the Ducks to control the tempo with a level of consistency that would make the fan base a constant factor.
This needs to be the kind of Oregon game that racks up Ducks first-downs, keeps Autzen loud, smothering, and disruptive.
By all rights, Oregon should have the talent on the field and the fan culture in the stands to make every snap feel like an uphill battle for the Bobcats. Now, it’s a matter of making it happen.
The B1G picture
Momentum builds on statement wins.
A sharp opener silences offseason haters and all their noise the past seven months:
They said: “Can Moore organize the offense?"
They said: "Can Oregon’s O-Line handle pressure?"
They said: "Is the Ducks’ defense ready?”
Nothing would be sweeter for Oregon fans than for the team to start shutting down all that outside noise right at the first series of Game 1 and keeping it convincing from start to finish.
Recruiting is a moving target.
That stripe-out, that Duck Nation third-down thunder, all that Uncle Phil Nike gear in every corner of Autzen: Recruits see it, and we know they like it.
The brand is national. The culture is real. You live it, you rep it, you wear it.
And you’ve seen recruits flip to Oregon after they spend a gameday in the vortex of Autzen energy.
Blackout vs Beavs, epic troll & we're so completely here for it
PORTLAND — Oregon’s 2025 color schedule is out, and there it is in bold type: Game 4, wear black vs. Oregon State.
Bottom line
Look, as a former coach, player, and career sportswriter, I know a little bit of football. And I know this Oregon fan base.
You’re wound tight; you're ready for excellence, and you feel a sense of urgency for Ducks Nation to get that natty that's been so close all the way back to Darron Thomas and Marcus Mariota more than a decade ago.
Some of you bleed green & yellow 365 days a year. So this isn’t just Game 1, it’s the first paragraph of our 2025 Oregon Football narrative.
Big Ten title defense, playoff aspirations, it all starts here!
A convincing Ducks win with swagger and style points, and that playoff talk morphs into goals with no ceiling.
Ducks Nation, are you ready?
Ready to sweat through your stripe-out gear? Ready to cheer like you’ve never lost? Ready to believe the sky's NOT the limit?

Starting again with Game 1, you can be more than a fan. Together, we can be a force of nature!
