COLUMBUS â Oregon heads east to face No. 11 Ohio State on Saturday with its season still on the ropes.
If youâre one of the few remaining casual fans still entertaining âplenty of football leftâ delusions, youâre past due to snap out of it. Last weekâs one-score win against then-No. 20 Northwestern is one of the most important wake-up calls of Oregonâs 2026 season.
The Ducks came back to beat Chip Kelly and the Wildcats after escaping a two-score second-quarter deficit, but itâs hard to imagine Ohio Stateâs defense being that forgiving.
A three-loss Oregon finish would be a long shot for the playoff. At four losses, youâd have to listen to a month of every numbnuts in Linn County wet dream about Little Brother facing the Ducks in some second-tier December bowl game.
Oregonâs 34-26 win over visiting Northwestern bought the Ducks another Saturday in the dark-horse role. But that doesnât buy Oregon any wiggle room.
Saturdayâs comeback showed an offense capable of hitting explosive plays. The next test is whether Oregonâs interim play-caller Jay Johnson and QB Dylan Raiola can sustain that production in Columbus.
Three losses deep, the Ducks canât afford to waste another Saturday.
