Saturday was no celebration. No Oregon players dancing to Shout. Trailing at halftime. Tied deep in the second half. Escaping with a one-score win vs. unranked Boise State. Again.
Sure, Oregon proved it can take a punch and survive. Now, the Ducks need to stop punching themselves in the face.
Lanning was blunt in postgame interviews: “The performance and the execution has to be better.”
Saturday was an escape. Past the final whistle, it became a reckoning And it’s the exact jolt this Oregon program needs to get serious about its College Football Playoff aspirations.
The Ducks trailed 17-7 late in the first half and didn’t grab a lead until late in the third quarter.
